Perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) and perfluoroalkyl sulfonates (PFASs) in surface and tap water around Lake Taihu

Yong QIU, He JING, Hanchang SHI,

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2010, Volume 4, Issue 3,   Pages 301-310 doi: 10.1007/s11783-010-0236-8

Abstract: six PFCAs and two PFASs were quantified in surface and tap water samples from 12 sites around Lake TaihuThe sources of the PFCs were expected to be direct industrial discharges in the Lake Taihu area, andthis area was also a possible source of PFCs contaminations in Shanghai district in the downstream.PFCs distributions were found different in the upstream, downstream and north part of Lake Taihu.Occurrences of PFCs in the tap water in Lake Taihu area indicated their exposure to the local people.

Water Diversion is Not to Blame for Phosphorus Enrichment in Taihu Lake

Zhiyuan Wang,Qiuwen Chen,Jianyun Zhang,Hanlu Yan,

Engineering doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2023.07.007

Abstract: The Water Diversion Project from the Yangtze River to Taihu Lake (WDYT) has been widely recognized asresources, ameliorate the hydrodynamics and water quality conditions, and safeguard the water supply of TaihuLake in recent years, because Yangtze River has a higher average phosphorus concentration than Taihuand should not be responsible for the increase in phosphorus concentration and loading in Taihu Lakeand should be primarily responsible for the high phosphorus concentration of Taihu Lake.
